Several new baggage fees policies have been changed, please note below:

1. US Airways:  Effective for tickets issued on or after April 23, 2009 for travel on or after July 9, 2009, US Airways will charge an additional $5 fee to check a bag at the airport, resulting in a $20 fee for the first checked bag and a $30 fee for the second checked bag.  Bags checked-in online will pay $15 for their first bag and $25 for their second. 
   
   Travelers exempt from these fees - Dividend Miles Preferred members, travelers on transatlantic flights, travelers confirmed in First Class or Envoy Class, military personnel on active duty, unaccompanied minors, or travelers checking an assistive device.
   
   
2. Delta Air Lines / Northwest Airlines:  The airline baggage policies are aligned - as a result, Delta's new $50 second bag fee for international travel also applies to Northwest flights. 
   
   Travelers excempt from these fees - First- or Business-Class passengers, SkyMiles and WorldPerks Elite members, active duty military members traveling on orders, passengers who purchased their tickets before April 21, 2009, and passengers who are confirmed on Full Y-Class economy tickets.
   
   
3. Alaska / Horizon Airlines:  Effective for tickets issued May 1, 2009 for travel on or after July 7, 2009, Alaska / Horizon will charge $15 for the first checked bag. 
   
   Travelers exempt from these fees - First-Class passengers, MVP and MVP Gold members (and those traveling with them), active military personnel traveling on orders, customers making international connections, passengers traveling within the state of Alaska, and passengers traveling to / from Guadalajara or Mexico City.
