"Holding" Airline Reservations vs. "Ticketing" Airline Reservations
DATE: August 11, 2008
ATTN: Travel Manager/Arranger/Travelers
It is well documented that the airlines are losing money, and they are looking for ways to generate new revenue. Here is a method that is not common knowledge to the everyday traveler.
The airlines are now charging a fee to all travel agencies for reservations that are ON HOLD - NOT TICKETED - THEN REBOOKED after the fare rule has expired.
Travel One's agents will continue to hold fares for our customers according to the airline's rules, and we will continue to communicate the fare rules on when tickets need to be issued. What is new is that airline reservations must be ticketed within the guidelines of the fare, and if not, the seat will be released back into the airline's inventory.
Because of this new policy, it is more important than ever for travelers and arrangers to make a purchase / cancellation decision within the applicable "hold" window.
Travel One will continue to keep our clients informed of news and information that may affect their corporate travel program. Please contact your Travel One reservationist at 952-854-2555 or 1-800-245-1111 for the most current travel information.
